Woke up to harping horns and rugged boat motors as we arrived at Suruttani Pier, actually managed to sleep on the boat even tho we were like sardines! Straight off the ferry on to a bus to a bus terminal, off the bus, on to another bus and off we went to Krabi!
Bus station was out of town but they have a tourist info thing there, very simple straight off bus, booked one night on Nappratataedfadjfadfiau beach at Bule Ba You Bungalows, crossed the road and the local bus came along straight away! I say local bus, well Thai's say local bus, its a pick up truck/van thing same as what the taxis are where you sit in the open back.
Anyway as advertised "clean gardens", shame about the room! The thais seem to spend alot of time on their gardens yet not on general cleanliness inside. At Koh Pangan the gardens were swept of leaves every morning, yet didnt fancy fixing our toilet seat!
so it was about maybe 9am by now had a shower and we headed down to the busier part of the beach looking at accomodation on teh way. booked in some place else for the following night, had a cider in the Irish Rover before going back along where we came.
Went down on Noroppratt?! (i cant say this word either, thankfully people have just laughed at me when ive attempted it so far!), had the best time on the beach falling across lots of living sea critters for us to poke and such!
tiny crabs and their balls of sand...
even smaller crabby things taken over old shells fighting with each other then attaching to your toes if you stood still too long...
Pretty cone shells, but what came out of it was really quite disturbing!! Two googley eyes on tenticals but then out comes a big jelly arm of pure muscle with a razor on the end and it flaps it around trying to attack you i guess... quite foul!! Whats even more icky is that the thai's were walking the beach looking for these uglys to put on your plate for dinner... er yum.
A jelly thing?! must be a plant said liz as she bopped it one with her shoe, with which it suddenly sucked itself away under the sand somewhere!
Couple of larger crabs locked in arms trying to tip each other up!
Yeah so anyway that kept us amused till dark, by which time we had got to a couple of v.small islands connected to mainland by sand bank to see the sun set. Headed back to where we were staying via the road, after walking for AGES, assumed we had gone the wrong way, not sure how it was a straight road we thought along the beach! Seems weve become accustomed to island life on koh tao where theres only one straight road, cant cope with more than one road now can we! so ye long long long walk back in the dark lots of little stalls and such along the way, things seem to liven up at night, cooler i spose. Guy from a cute little bar like a tree house tried to persuade us to come back there later. Eventually got back, then headed out again for food at Hippies Rest, hada flyer to get a free bucket of whiskey here as well. Turned out to be a really good night they had a band playing and then they did fire poi and fire stick stuff, brought you round games to play as well and sat chatting with you, all very entertaining, untill they wanted us to dance, well liz did eventually. One of them kept doing pretending to be a coy lady dancer, not sure how he thoguht that would entice us to dance mind you. anyways longest weve been awake in a day since Koh Pangan, so well done us heh.
